If a single note could capture the spirit of Arabian perfumery, it would be oud. Mysterious, powerful, and impossibly rich, oud has been treasured across the Middle East for over a thousand years — and today the rest of the world is discovering what Arabia has always known.
What is oud?
Oud forms deep inside the agarwood tree. When the tree is infected by a particular mould, it responds by producing a dark, fragrant resin to protect itself. That resin-soaked wood is oud. Because only a small share of trees ever develop it — and only after many years — oud is extraordinarily rare, which is why it is often called “liquid gold.”
A scent like no other
Oud is woody and resinous, with smoky, leathery, almost untamed depths. It can feel sweet and balsamic one moment and bold the next. A single drop transforms a composition, lending it the gravity and staying power that lighter fragrances simply cannot match.
Oud in the Uno collection
We build our most opulent fragrances around this remarkable material:
- Imperial Valley — our house signature: a regal oud deepened by warm amber and supple leather.
- Midnight — smoky oud and dark spice, made for after dark.
- Elixer — oud distilled to its richest, most indulgent form.
How to wear it
Oud rewards a light hand. One or two sprays on the pulse points is plenty; its warmth will unfold over the hours. It comes alive on cooler evenings and special occasions — though many find it becomes a daily companion they cannot do without. Discover oud, and you discover the soul of Arabian fragrance.
